This thread is dedicated for all the health-concerned people, the figure-concerned people and also the bulimic people. You can also ask questions or give tips to keep you and other TMB people fit.

I have a question. Is it advisable not to eat in the evening for dietary and reducing purposes? Cause they say it is a good way to reduce/diet. Why do you think so? Why not?

I think it is not advisable not to eat period.

Even if you're in a diet, your body still needs food. Your fats are just stored energies that has to be burned but it doesn't have everything you need like vitamins and minerals.

Although what do I know? I'm a 230lbs freak.

Thanks Thor. So you mean all I have to do is eat a balanced dinner? Okay.

Wait. You weigh in at 230LBS? What do you do? Do you go to the gym and lift weights?

I used to have an athletic body, but a series of injuries prompted me to stop playing during my college years and since then I started getting fat. more than 10 years later I am now overweight and I have had it. I'm going back to the gym. It gets so emo when I talk about it so I'll shat ap!

Anyway, This is what I want to do. Diet alone is out of the question. I have to first develop my cardiovascular system. I can do that by swimming, jogging or biking an hour a day. Why? Well because my heart is covered with fat and if I hit the gym this early I will suffer from heart attack.

Once I loose a few pounds and condition myself from the rigorous training ahead, I can now hit the gym although I would have to choose a regimen which is high in repetitions and low on weight. Why?

High repititions and low weight = shedding fats/weight
Low repetitions and high weight = Power building/muscle building

The proper positioning though is hard to teach online. Have you signed up for a gym kwem?

Did you play for the Green Archers or any DLSU sports team?

No. But my friend has a mini-gym in his own backyard. He has all this weights stuff and an exercise bike.

Yes. For us fatties, particularly fatties pushing 30, this topic can be a bit emo. So for the next few lines, I apologize.

I used to be a lean 175lbs back in college. I was a fencer. A good one at that. i have medals and trophies to prove it. Then I ate anything i wanted, in whatever quantity that I liked. Our rigorous training ensured that it was damn near impossible to gain any weight. After I graduated so many fucking years ago, I stopped training that hard. I wasn't competing anymore anyway. My diet did not change though. As a result, I now tip the scales at a whopping 235lbs. And I'm only 5'9".

I recently I took up boxing. I do a bit of weights but like Thor, I focus on cardio more than anything else. I need to shed weight before I start building muscles. Now to get this thing back on topic, my concern is this, I'm still not losing any considerable amount of weight. I live a particularly active lifestyle. I hit the beach often to swim, skim and surf. Still, i remain shaped like a walrus. And frankly, I'm feeling a bit unmotivated because of it.

There. I stop being emo now because it does not suit me at all. Thank you.

I did boxing. After one session of hellish torment, I basically gave up the idea. However, I see to it that I have at least 3 gym sessions with at least one hour cardio exercise and 30 minutes sauna everyweek.

Also, I do zigzag diets. Calorie intake during first four days of the week should not exceed 1200, during the rest of the week, I can eat anything I want.

Avoid salty foods. Drink at least 1.2 Liters of water a day. Drop softdrinks and junk foods. Avoid Caffeine. When drinking, choose hard liquors.

I've lost 30 pounds in 3 months. I'm still a little overweight right now, but I know I'll get there. Hugs?

I used to be 160. I played basketball, made myself fit and never slept for school requirements, and I dropped to 130. Then college came. The good food in the school cafeterias, more time to do schoolwork and eating binges made me back again to 160 in just a year.

I'm at 180 right now. And I'm 5'8".

I used to be a vegetarian before (lacto-ovo) but I gave up the idea after I got too weak (I know I should've taken supplements). I lost a couple of pounds but that's not really the idea behind it. Anyhoo, I think what you need to do to lose some weight is eat just 1 cup of rice per meal, don't eat at least 2 hours before you sleep & don't eat too much processed food.

Kwem, I wasn't a member of any sports team. Although I was a member of the Model Platoon back in my ROTC days. We competed against other military schools like PMI, PMMI etc. Yes I am a frustrated PMAer. My parents did not want me to go to a military school and my eys weren't 20/20 vision. No chance in hell. I was also a member of iron works, the Gym org of dlsu.

Adam, That's the problem for us kids pushing 30. We exercise is not enough. We have to control our food. Here is what I eat since Yesterday.

Breakfast.

Oatmeal. No sugar no milk, just plain cooked oatmeal and Water or juice.

Lunch.

full meal. One cup of rice, red meat or fish, water or coke light.

Dinner.

No rice or 1/2 cup rice,  vegetables and white meat. Coke light.

Usually that diet will not work. It has to be supported by an exercise or a sport. You know what used to work for me? Around 3-4 years ago, I did South Beach Diet religiously, even the smallest detail. I lost 20lbs in one month. Although I gained it all back because I stopped dieting when my heart got broken. Aw! We're so emo!

I still have the South beach diet instructions. Can I post it here?

^ heart-broken like now????

OnT:
Stick on a diet you know you can stand even if you reach your ideal weight. If you force yourself on weird foods, chances are if you return to your regular diet, you'll blow into a baboon.

Green Tea is good.
